Pig Being Sold For His Meat Was Bought For $60, But For A Much Better Reason

A three-week-old Hampshire pig was confined to a tiny, filthy cage at a garden shop in Gloucester, Australia. He was squealing for help as he sat in his cage and awaited his fate of being sold for his meat. A woman who saw the poor pig took a picture and sent it to her mom, Hope Sutton. Sutton and her partner, Giuliana Vega, drove to the shop immediately to see the pig in person.

“He was so distressed,” Sutton told The Dodo. “A lady was at his cage with her hand on the wire, asking him if he could smell the baking pan. We asked if we could take him out of his cage, and we held him to calm him down.”

Sutton and Vega knew they couldn’t leave this poor pig here to die. Without hesitation, they bought the pig for $60 and took him home. They named him Sunday after the day his new life began. They had never raised a pig before, but they learned fairly quickly.

After spending time with Sunday and getting him acclimated to his new life, his cute little personality started to break through. He loved playing in the mud, running around the yard, and swimming in his little pool.
