A stray calico kitten was found on the street by Chicago Animal Care and Control. Once she was inside the shelter, they noticed that she wobbled when she walked.

The Critical Animal Relief Foundation (CARF) heard about this sweet kitten and rescued her from the shelter. The kitten, called Kanoo, was examined by a vet, and test were performed to try and figure out why she wobbled. Upon closer examination, the vet noticed Kanoo had a cleft palate and a mild case of Cerebellar Hypoplasia.

The kitten was treated for other minor issues with the eyes and upper respiratory infection. CARF thought the best place for the kitty to recover was in a foster home. It took some time for Kanoo to adjust to living indoors with humans. However, her foster, Lindsay Malinowski, was patient and quiet allowing the kitty to adjust to her surroundings.

Malinowski tells Love Meow, “When she first got here, she was just so exhausted. She spent all of her time in a lap or on a blanket next to a radiator. She was so skinny.” All she wanted was to be loved and petted.

Kanoo was slowly adjusting to indoor living. Her favorite part was her foster mom’s bed. “Her floppies are permanent but it just makes her cuter,” states Malinowski.

Kanoo has a foster sister cat, Twiggy, who walks with the same wobble. The two do not act any different than other cats. They just walk a little different.
