What are my options if the hotel does not allow dogs to stay in the rooms unsupervised?FamilyPet
While more and more hotels are allowing pets to board with their owners while traveling, some have strict stipulations regarding pets in rooms. Some hotels have breed and size restrictions for dogs, while others charge a fee for the dog to stay at the hotel. Other hotels have even stricter rules, such as not allowing pets to stay in the room unsupervised while an owner is away.
The options if a hotel does not allow dogs to stay in the room unsupervised include taking the dog with you when you leave, or checking the dog into a nearby pet sitting or doggy day care type facility. If you are in a location where you can do outdoor activities with your dog, or bring your dog along with you, this is probably the best option for both you and your dog. If you are able to take your dog with you, you will not have to pay for a pet sitter, and you will be able to bond with your dog in a new location.
If you are not able to bring your dog with you, check with the hotel concierge to see if they can recommend any nearby doggy day care or pet sitting facilities. Some hotels even have dog walkers and pet sitters on the staff to handle visiting pets while the owners are away.
