Dog Interrupts Dad’s Home Broadcast Looking For Cuddles, Snacks

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a boost in digital viewership, but the human reporters can’t take all the credit.

Brody, a golden retriever from Tampa Bay, Florida, is just the latest furry co-worker to help boost his weatherman dad’s rating after interrupting a recent home broadcast in search of cuddles and snacks.

The trouble began when Brody accidentally knocked up against his dog dad’s laptop, which prevented the interactive weather map from displaying in Paul Dellegatto’s makeshift home studio.

In an effort to prevent further disruptions, Dellegatto invited the restless pup to sit on his lap, and then proceeded to deliver the weather forecast like nothing unusual was happening.

Brody, meanwhile, seems to relish his turn in front of the camera — at least for a while. Not only is he getting petted by his dog dad, he gazes into the weatherman’s eyes, locks eyes with viewers, and then suddenly lets out a huge yawn. “Didn’t mean to keep you up,” Dellegatto says. “Buddy, we’re going to eat after this.”

We get to see Brody again just a couple of seconds later, when the curious pup jumps up to peer directly into the camera, which has been positioned on the other side of the “studio” window.

Brody appears to be looking for the cameraman, Craig, who is holding up a blanket outside the window. This solution reduces the glare into the makeshift home studio, but also succeeds in hiding the cameraman from Brody’s view.

“He likes Craig,” Dellegatto explains. “Now he can’t see Craig, so he’s going crazy trying to find Craig.”

This adorable broadcast is worth watching even if you don’t live in Tampa — and we’re not the only ones who think so. “This is the best weather forecast in the history of television news,” Newsweek correspondent Andrew Feinberg wrote on Twitter. We couldn’t agree more!
