Shelter Is Hosting A Virtual ‘Kitten Shower’ So People Can Rescue An Animal From Home
Whether we are prepared or not, kitten season is about to be in full swing, despite the current coronavirus pandemic.
Springtime is, of course, one of the busiest times for animal shelters and rescues across the country as there is a huge rise in the number of kittens who are being found or surrendered to shelters as mama cats begin to give birth to their litters.
The Nebraska Human Society has decided to take the time to turn the start of kitten season into a chance to spread something joyful around that isn’t coronavirus memes. Instead, the rescue posted to its Facebook page that they’ll be hosting a virtual kitten shower on the 25th of March.
The shelter wrote, “This event is a fun and easy way to help care for all the kittens that will soon be flooding into the shelter, and you can do it all from the comfort of your couch or desk chair!”
While we are all completely living for this idea, I should warn you that it gets even better. Prior to the kitten shower, you can go to the website to look at the cute little kittens, and there is actually a registry under which you can buy the adorable kittens gifts! The Nebraska Humane Society has started a Kitten Shower gift registry where cat lovers can purchase items for the kittens such as food, toys, and litter. By purchasing an item from the registry, you can help the shelter be better prepared for the coming inundation of kittens as spring progresses.
You can click here to browse the registry, meanwhile keep an eye on the Facebook page where there will be more details and updates about the upcoming virtual kitten shower as the time gets closer to the 25th of March.
