Veteran’s Last Wish Is To Find A Forever Home For His Two Beloved Cats

A veteran who resides in Pensacola, Florida, does not have much time left to live. He served his country and fought for our freedom, but now only wants what is best for his beloved cats. His last wish is to find a loving home for his cats, Scooter and Big Foot.

The cats must go together as they have lived the past seven years with the veteran and are bonded. Pensacola Humane Society took in both cats after a viewer of Channel 3 News reached out to help the ailing veteran with his wish. The shelter promised the veteran they would find them a loving home.

Pensacola Humane Society Executive Director, Jennifer Bitner, told Channel 3 News, “We want to be able to support the community and not just the animal community, but also our citizens of Escambia County; and you start thinking about that fact that this is a veteran and this is literally one of the last things that he is requesting.”

Even though the shelter was near capacity, they took in the cats to help ease the mind of a dying veteran. His best friends will have each other and be properly cared for. Scooter and Big Foot are settling in at the shelter and will be up for adoption shortly.

Scooter, the black cat, is very friendly and curious. She loves to cuddle and has already won the hearts of the staff at the shelter. Big Foot is a little more reserved and shy, but still really sweet.

“As a veteran to this country and what that stands for and how important the military is to this particular community, my hope is that someone will want to grant him his wish and come take these two little guys together and provide them their forever home,” Bitner said.

People are starting to inquire about the adorable pair and we hope they find a loving home soon. The humane society posted, “Thank you for your service, sir. Rest easy knowing your babies will be loved and cared for.”
