80-Year-Old Air Force veteran Donald Mittica was eating at a taco shop in San Bernardino, California, having no idea that his whole world was about to be turned upside down. When he was walking back to his car, a man with a knife threatened to kill him and then proceeded to steal his car. But what made it even worse, was that a precious gift from his late wife of 50 years was in the car: his three-pound dog Lola. Mittica frantically ran back into the taco shop to tell employees to call 911.

“I finally realized that I was by myself and I didn’t like that and I still don’t like it,” Mitotic said, “She’s the only thing that I have.” Thankfully, a good samaritan found Lola roaming the streets, ten miles away from the taco shop, and brought her to a shelter. The carjackers were found by police in Santa Ana along with the car. So he got back his furry best friend AND his car. What a happy ending to a scary situation!
