Two Border Collies Set World Record For Most Tricks Performed In One Minute
Border collies are said to be the smartest dog breed and two from California just proved they are the best at tricks too.
Wish and Halo, two border collies from El Cajon, California, just set the world record for most tricks performed by two dogs in unison in one minute with the help of their trainer and mom, Emily Larlham. The two dogs performed an impressive 28 tricks in one minute according to Guinness World Records.
They did everything from sit, sit pretty, down, and heel to running circles, jumping over their mom’s arms (dog hurdles), and crossing their paws.
Larlham taught the intelligent pups all the tricks through positive reinforcement. She started working with them individually and then progressed to asking the dogs to perform tricks at the same time. She said it’s best to “keep training sessions short and fun” so the dogs don’t get overwhelmed.
Wish set another record on the same day, the fastest 5-meter crawl by a dog, completing the task in 2.175 seconds.
Larlham is a renowned dog trainer, known as Kikopup on social media, and has shared hundreds of videos on YouTube to inspire and encourage others to use positive reinforcement to train their dogs.
She covers everything from puppy training to solving common problems, like leash pulling. Wish and Halo are often featured in her videos, but so are her other four dogs, Kiko, Splash, Epic and Tug.
Her method works, as you can see in her videos, and she states, “I am going to tell you the honest truth about dog training even though it means you might need to put in a little effort to train your dog. However, I break the training up into small achievable steps so training should be fun and easy for both you and your dog giving you the skills needed to train your dog like a professional trainer.”
