Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds Announced
The American Kennel Club releases a list every year of the most popular dogs based off the previous year’s AKC registration statistics. While some breeds have been on the top 10 list for decades, others are new to the list.
The complete list of 193 breeds ranked in popularity was released in May. It may come as no surprise that the loyal Labrador Retriever was named the most popular dog breed for the 29th consecutive year. However, the Yorkshire Terrier fell out of the top 10 and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi made the list for the first time ever.
While all dogs are amazing, it is important to choose one that fits with your lifestyle. Some breeds are more high energy and would do best with active families while others are couch potatoes.
