Christmas Came Early For Cats And Dogs At Louisiana Animal Shelter – Bringing Castles, Toys, And Leashes

‘Tis the season for giving.

Thanks to your donations we were able to bring some joy to cats and dogs at St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter in Luling, Louisiana. Christmas came a little early to all the pets waiting for forever homes.

The cats were spoiled with cardboard castles that are also carriers. They allow cats to play and hide as they please. In addition, when the cat is adopted they get to go home in their familiar castle.

“Peek-a-Boo cat castles are the best! Sam wiggles in through, around and the bed on top houses his toy, too! It’s a little adoption incentive that contributes to our pets leaving with a little special gift,” said Jena Troxler from St Charles Parish Animal Shelter.

Aside from the castles, the cats were treated to felt snakes – which they all went bananas for – and flea prevention. The shelter decided to offer the flea prevention for FREE with TNR service. Troxler added, “These cats rarely see flea prevention and preventing infestation in our shelter while servicing these kitties, is a…well, ADVANTAGE!”

The dogs were also treated to kennels, purple collars and leashes, and most importantly – Kong toys! In the spirit of giving, the shelter told us, “The kennels we have shared with a couple of residents that needed transportation for their pets to the veterinarian when updating medical records. They serve as back up in disaster situations to evacuate people’s pets.”

Troxler said, “The leashes and collars are awesome and go home with the adopted K9 resident as an essential item!” Aside from looking dapper and beautiful, the dogs will be entertained for hours with their new toys.
