Dog Found Tied To A Tree With Severe Burns Reunites With The Vet Who Helped Save His Life

A dog, later named Smokey, was found at the end of March, tied to a tree at a homeless camp in West Palm Beach, Florida. He had severe burns all over his body, which looked extremely painful, and the poor pup was visibly distressed.

Rescuers cut the chain that bound him to the tree, and removed him from the brushfire area. They then rushed him to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue, where they examined him and determined that he’d need extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.

He went to stay at Jupiter Pet Emergency & Specialty Center, where he received multiple blood transfusions, daily baths and bandage changes, and treatments in the hyperbaric chamber to help reduce swelling and pain from the burns.

The staff was very gentle with Smokey and showered him with love. He received his own soft bed to recover on, along with toys and lots of attention.

Thanks to the amazing vets and nurses at JPESC, after just a few weeks, Smokey was already doing so much better.

His transformation was beginning and his inflamed skin was starting to heal slowly. It would take a long time for his wounds to heal, but his emotional wounds were healing as well.

He knew that they were all there to help him, and he became less afraid and more trusting. He still has a long way to go with his healing, but he’s on the road to recovery with a great outlook.

Once Smokey started to heal, his personality started to show. He is a goofy, energetic boy who loves to play. He became a hit on social media, and there were many inquiries about adopting him. However, he won the heart of one of the staff members at JPESC, and was adopted by her.

Here is Smokey’s recovery. This will melt your heart.

Smokey went back to JPESC for another check-up and got to visit the staff while there. In the video below, you’ll see Smokey reuniting with the vet who helped save his life. By the look of Smokey’s reaction when he sees Dr. Latimer, it’s very obvious that Smokey loves him so much and is beyond thankful for everything he’s done to help him. So heartwarming! I’m so happy Smokey’s sad story wound up having a much happier ending.

Check out the happy reunion below.
