Skinny Dog Found With Heartbreaking Note

A malnourished dog was found wandering the property of an animal shelter in Wilmington, Delaware. Another dog at the shelter noticed the dog in the corner of the property and alerted the staff. The underweight Pit bull mix appeared friendly and as the staff approached they noticed a bag attached to her harness.

“With each New Year comes new challenges and on our second day in, we welcomed one of our most heartbreaking souls yet. This skinny-mini’s name is Sky and she was discovered… by one of our easy-going dogs, who barked alarmingly at one of the normally uneventful corners of our property,” posted Delaware Humane Association.

Inside the bag was a handwritten note from her previous owner that broke their hearts. The note read, “Please take care of Sky. She is 6 years old and friendly. I couldn’t take care of her. I became homeless and couldn’t feed her. She is not sick, just hungry. Very friendly. Please find her a home please.”

Sky was treated for fleas and appeared healthy, aside from being 20 pounds underweight. “She really is super sweet, but quite shy at times,” Delaware Humane development and marketing director Greg Munson told HuffPost. She is curious about other dogs as well.

The shelter posted Sky’s story to their Facebook page, but asked their followers to refrain from bashing the previous owner stating, “We can’t imagine this was easy for her former owner.”

Many of their followers inquired about Sky so the shelter posted, “If the owner were to contact us, we would be willing to work with them to reunite them, but it would depend on the situation and the owner’s circumstances.”

Anyone interested in adopting Sky is asked to apply. The shelter will filter through the applications and find the best fit for the friendly pup.
