A Pig Was Dying After A Challenging Birth. But When Her Piglet Approached Her, Everything Changed

Emma the pig was brought to Apricot Lane Farms in Moorpark, California, while she was very skinny, sick and also pregnant. They were told that Emma would be lucky if she had six piglets. During her birth, she wound up having 17 piglets, 13 of whom survived! But after they were born, Emma was still very ill. She was so sick that she stopped producing milk and the piglets had to be taken away from her and hand-fed to give her a break. She was running a 108.3 fever and they weren’t sure she’d survive.

They did everything they could to help Emma; they pulled out every farmer and vet trick in the book. Luckily, they were able to get her fever down but she wasn’t eating. They thought it would be a good idea to give her a reason to live, so they brought back the little piglets and put them with her. Miraculously, Emma started to get better. Whether it was the fight to survive to take care of her babies, or the things that the staff there used, Emma was up and walking and in much better spirits. She even wound up gaining 200 pounds! After the piglets got older, they left to go to their own pastures. Emma wound up making a new friend: a rooster.
