Hundreds Of Emergency Foster Kits Delivered To Animal Shelters In Texas To Help People #StayHomeAndFoster
Fostering saves lives and there is no better time to foster than now.
The world is facing uncertain times causing people to become stressed and depressed. Dogs and cats are proven stress relievers and will bring a smile to your face when you need it most. Plus, they love to snuggle and are always there for you – making them perfect quarantine buddies.
Animal shelters across the country pleaded for fosters and adopters when COVID-19 caused states to shut down. People answered those pleas and many became foster heroes. Cassie Davidson, Director of Communications at the Humane Society of North Texas, told us, “Here at the Humane Society of North Texas, it was so vital for us to get as many pets into foster care as we possibly could.”
The shelter received an overwhelming amount of foster applications and was able to place kittens, puppies, senior dogs, and cats into loving foster homes.
Shelters do their best to provide all the essentials to care for a fostered dog or cat, but due to the influx in animals and the need to place them immediately shelters needed, and still need, help. That is where generous people like you stepped up to help support amazing fosters and homeless pets around the country.
GreaterGood.org and The Animal Rescue Site fans are making sure that no shelter pet goes hungry and wants for nothing through Emergency Foster Care Kits.
Dog Foster Emergency Care Kits include a collar, leash, food & water dishes, waste bags, dog toy, treats and a donation to provide food for pups in need.
Cat Foster Emergency Care Kits include a collar, food & water dishes, litter box & scoop, a cat toy, treats, along with a donation to provide food for kitties in need.
Hundreds of Emergency Foster Kits were delivered to Humane Society of North Texas and SPCA of Texas. Over 200 foster kits will be distributed in Dallas, Texas, by WAG! Now pet caregivers. In addition to dropping off the foster kits, the volunteers will also provide contact-free delivery of shelter pets to foster homes.
GreaterGood.org started the #StayHomeAndFoster initiative to encourage people to stay safe at home and in the process make a new friend. It’s working! Many fostered pets have turned into foster fails, but that is a good thing.
Some of the foster heroes that couldn’t part with their shelter pet posted photos of their foster fail on the Humane Society of North Texas page. One wrote, “Fostered Phoebe past 6 weeks and adopted this sweet girl yesterday!” Another said, “They don’t get any cuter than our little Ollie. This m[a]y be a foster fail.”
Shelter pets around the country are resting comfortably in loving foster homes with full bellies and playing with enriching toys, thanks to you. Davidson said, “A special thank you to GreaterGood.org and The Animal Rescue Site for donating these amazing foster kits!” Check out the video below to see the joy that your donation has brought to shelter pets.
Sadly, animal shelters are seeing an increase in surrendered and abandoned pets and are in desperate need of supplies to encourage more people to foster. If you would like to help more shelter pets while they wait for their forever homes, simply donate below. Thank you for your support!
