Ohio Shelter Throws Amazing Birthday Party For 19-Year-Old Cat

Turning 19 (or 92 in human years) is a big deal when you are a cat.

The staff at Cincinnati Animal CARE Humane Society went all out to celebrate one of their beloved senior shelter cats, Sammy.

Sammy arrived at the shelter after his owner of many years went into assisted living. Sadly, they were not able to bring Sammy along.

When the shelter realized the sweet feline would be spending his 19th birthday at the shelter, they decided to throw him a party, but they never expected it to go viral.

Sammy was spoiled with tasty snacks and looked dapper in a blue glitter hat.

But his only wish was for a loving forever home.

The shelter wrote, “Happy birthday to this beautiful fella who would love a nice, quiet home to live out his golden years! The only rule for adopting Sammy though? You have to throw him a 20th birthday party on 6/15/22!”

No birthday party is complete without singing. The staff sang “Happy Birthday” to Sammy while he devoured his tasty treat.

The celebration went viral and Sammy’s wish was granted. He found his forever home the following day.

But his new family fell in love with him before he was famous. “His adopter, who actually messaged us about Sammy before he became internet famous, was waiting outside before we even opened today! He is going home with a fellow senior kitty and has already been spoiled with a new hat!”

The shelter renamed their Colony room to Sammy’s Senior Center, in hopes of finding the remaining senior cats forever homes. “If you fell in love with Sammy during his birthday party on Tuesday, we still have many sweet older cats here at the shelter who deserve the same happy ending as him,” the shelter posted.

They are open every day 12-6pm and walk-ins are welcome. Adopt don’t shop!
