19-Year-Old Black Cat’s Unique Coat Grows More Gorgeous As The Years Ago By
Born in 1997 from a litter of five, Scrappy the cat was once all black. But now at 19, his dark coat has turned into one with snowflake like markings.
These white markings began to appear when he was seven years old. The older he got, the more spots there were, causing a unique pattern that is rarely seen in cats.

His unusual hair color is due to vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition that has been see in cats as a genetic disease. It can affect their coats in various patterns and Scrappy is exhibiting the snowflake pattern. It does not affect his health or quality of life.
