Ricky Gervais Welcomes Foster Cat Into Home, But A Few Days Later Decides To Keep Her

Ricky Gervais is a renowned English actor, comedian, and a longtime animal lover and activist. He and partner, Jane Fallon, recently lost their beloved feline Ollie. They were devastated but knew they had to help another cat in need and decided to foster. However, the little kitten quickly won their hearts.

The kitten was rescued from a bad situation and leery of people. She spent the first two days in her new foster home hiding behind the couch.

But the following day she was affectionate and hopped right into Gervais’ lap and stared into his eyes. It was all over after that.

The first post about the foster kitten said, “Fostering this little beauty until she goes to her forever home.”

Three short days later, he posted, “Quick update on the cat we’re fostering: She keeps getting on my lap and staring at me. We’re keeping her.”

He announced the exciting news in a video he posted on Instagram saying, “The big world news: we are keeping our foster kitten. I knew it wouldn’t work. I knew if we fostered a cat we couldn’t give it away, couldn’t give it back.”

The kitten arrived with the name Catkins but the couple held a brainstorming session to come up with a more fitting name. They decided on Pickle.

The inquisitive feline perks up at each new sound and has already learned the “sound of the treat cupboard door.”

Just like other ‘crazy cat’ parents, his Instagram is now full of adorable and wacky photos of Pickle. Her personality is really starting to shine and his fans cannot get enough of her.

One follower wrote, “This is the only good thing to come out of 2020.”

Gervais shares not only photos of Pickle but tidbits of wisdom like, “Ancient civilizations used to worship cats as gods. Trouble is, they’ve never forgotten this.”

Anyone who shares a home with a cat knows it is nearly impossible to get any work done, because cats are so entertaining and adorable that we can’t take our eyes off of them. Gervais has fallen into the trap as well as he admits, “I’ve done no work since I got this cat.”

Pickle enjoys naps in the laundry basket and her taco toy. “The best foster fail ever,” is how Gervais describes his new affectionate friend. She has never scratched him and loves to hold his fingers by gently wrapping her paw around it.
