Tiny Kitten Found On The Side Of The Road Has An Unusual Coat

Ontario, Canada is where a tiny kitten was found along the side of the road. It isn’t an unusual occurrence, but this little cutie only weighed about 3 ounces.

After being found, she was brought to the Tiny but Mighty Kitten Rescue where they were surprised with how active she was.

Even though the kitten was abandoned along the side of the road at such a young age, she was full of life. Fortunately for her, she found her way to the perfect place.

Melissa, the founder of the rescue, gave her the name Janie. She began providing the care that was needed for this little kitten.

Janie was born with an unusual type of silvery coat that is known as a “fever coat.” It typically occurs when the mother is ill when she is pregnant.

It isn’t a dangerous situation, but as they grow older, they typically grow into their usual color.

Janie needed to be watched around the clock because she was so tiny. They fed her on a regular basis but they also had to regulate her heat because she couldn’t do so on her own.

3 days after being cared for by Melissa, Janie was now gaining weight. She certainly is a fighter!

June is another one of the rescue cats who had come a few weeks before Janie. Melissa had rescued that pregnant cat as a stray.

Fortunately, June was a dedicated mother, and within a few weeks, she provided the needed assistance for Janie.

June kept a close eye on Janie and couldn’t wait to give her the love and attention she needed. When Jane was 2 weeks old, she was healthy enough to get out of the incubator and visit her new mom.

“June immediately accepted Janie as her own as soon as I was able to safely introduce them,” Mellissa said in an interview with Love Meow.

June was cuddling and licking Janie and then brought her in with the other kittens. Janie continues to be a part of the family.

Although Janie doesn’t nurse from June, she does cuddle with her and the other kittens while they are nursing. She seems particularly fond of Jasmine, who gives her lots of love.

They are little sisters, and although Janie is 2 weeks younger, she is doing her best to keep up with them.

Janie is now over 4 weeks old and is eating solid foods. She has also crossed the 1 pound mark and is becoming an amazing cat. We look forward to hearing more about this adorable kitten that refused to give up.
