Senior Dog With Arthritis Finally Finds The Perfect Forever HomeAndrea Powell
Rusty, an 8-year-old boxer-mix, with arthritis was looking for a forever home. Luck would have it, that he would end up in a home with people who understand his aches and pains.
Executive Director of Rockland Place, Brenda Negron, first met Rusty when she went to Faithful Friends Animal Society to donate supplies. Negron decided to have a trial run with Rusty at the retirement community.
Rusty started to visit Rockland Place, a retirement community, and soon it would become his permanent home. This is the first resident dog the retirement community has had. Everyone fell in love with Rusty, so it was an easy decision to adopt him.
Most days, Rusty travels from room to room spending time with the residents. He is rewarded with treats and tons of pats and kisses. The staff has seen residents who would not talk start to talk to Rusty. He brings a smile to everyone’s face.
Rusty enjoys his laid back life and is usually asleep by 6 p.m. He walks a bit slow, but is wagging his tail the whole way. Soon the residents will be able to have Rusty sleep overnight in their rooms. Hopefully, other retirement communities will adopt a resident dog. Dogs make our lives complete, no matter what our age.
