Watch How Homeless Dog Shows His Appreciation When Rescuers Finally Arrive
When dogs end up homeless on the streets and are strays for a long time, fending for themselves, they usually become shy and afraid of people. Many of the rescues we watch are not easy. Video after video you see dogs running away from rescuers, while they try to come up with clever and safe ways to catch them.
This rescue, however, went much differently. Brutus, a one-and-a-half-year-old pit bull, was living on the streets in downtown Los Angeles by himself for a few months. He had no food or water, except for what a group of mechanics working at a nearby auto repair shop gave him. They tried to care for him the best they could, but they knew he wouldn’t survive much longer on the streets. What Brutus needed was a real place to call home with people who love him.
Hope For Paws, a local rescue organization, was notified about Brutus and came to the scene to attempt to rescue him. They were prepared for the hardest of rescues, but what they didn’t realize was how badly Brutus actually wanted to be saved.
Rescuers Eldad Hagar and Lisa Arturo pulled up to the alleyway where Brutus was standing. Instead of running away, like many of their previous rescues have, he ran right up to them. When they got out of the car, Brutus got a little nervous, but once he realized they had food, he was there to stay.
When they went to put the leash on him, he cooperatively bowed his head to help them get it on. The entire rescue took less than ten minutes! On the drive back to the shelter, Brutus thanked each rescuer by giving them lots of licks and kisses. He was so happy and grateful to finally have been rescued off the streets.
Brutus is moving in with a foster family and they don’t think it’ll take long before he is adopted, since he is such a sweet and loving dog.
