A Rescued Pit Bull And A Boy With Asperger’s Share An Unbreakable Bond

Roxy isn’t just a smiling, happy Pit Bull. Although a smiling, happy Pit Bull is all I need in my life! This dog, however, has taught Joey, a boy with Asperger’s, that people aren’t so bad and that hugs and kisses are fantastic. She puts Joey at ease, and takes this once isolated kid, and makes him part of the world around him by easing his anxiety. To me, no dog is ordinary. But what Roxy is able to do for Joey is really quite extraordinary. Roxy is Joey’s guardian angel, his teacher, and his best friend. What an amazing story!

Not all dogs are as lucky as Roxy. Many still remain in shelters waiting for their forever homes. Unfortunately, many Pit Bulls or pittie mixes, carry a stigma, making adoption that much more challenging. But you can make their time in the shelter more comfortable by participating in a program like this one! Beds for shelter animals is VITAL! It’s a comfy spot where a dog can lie down and feel safe.
