There Are Only 2,000 Giant Pandas Left In The World. But This Mama Just Welcomed One More!

There are only around 2,000 giant pandas left in the world (plus 300 in captivity), and this mama panda bear, named Hao Hao, is welcoming one of her own. She just had a baby boy, and it’s being called a “true miracle.” Hao Hao and her mate arrived at the Belgium Zoo in 2014 and have had trouble having a baby.

Chinese officials used artificial insemination with Hao Hao, and luckily three months later, it worked! The giant panda is on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s red list of animals at a high risk of extinction, so this birth is special! Hao Hao has been a great mother so far and took to her new baby immediately. She cares for him and is doing awesome! Just look how adorable that little guy is!
