A Police Puppy Who Can Perform CPR?!

Dogs can perform all sort of live saving actions like monitoring health issues to finding a lost person. Their heightened senses and intelligence save lives everyday. Dogs save our lives in many ways – that may include performing Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Poncho, Policia De Madrid puppy in training, is showing off his skills at performing CPR when an officer pretends to faint. The video has gone viral with over 2 million views.

The adorable puppy comes running to help with a blue siren light on his harness as soon as he sees his partner collapse. He instantly checks the wrist for a pulse and then proceeds to jump on the officer’s chest with his front paws. Poncho is really committed to his job and loves every minute of it. His tail wags the entire time as he eagerly performs all the steps.

After several jumps – he pauses to check to see if the man is breathing. Then he continues to jump on his chest, pausing every so often to check breathing. However, the dog is not trained to give mouth to mouth, so many doubt the ability of the dog to efficiently perform CPR. The officer sits up and rewards the dog for his efforts.

Wether dogs will be able to actually perform CPR or not in a real scenario does not matter because the dog is adorable trying. Just another reason to love dogs. Like Josh Billings said, “The dog is the only being in the world that will love you more than you love yourself.”

Keep up the great work, Poncho!
