Pinder Lets Pet Parents Swipe To Find The Perfect Doggy Date

There’s no one who knows your pet better than you, but what do you do when you notice that longing look in Rover’s eyes?

Many pets, dogs especially, are social creatures. They thrive when they can interact with other animals, but that can be a challenge for us humans who live by a different schedule.

Have no fear. There’s a new app that can help you find the perfect furry friend for your pet.

Finding a new furry friend for your pet only takes a swipe with the Pinder app.

Pinder is an amalgamation of “pets” and “Tinder,” the name of a popular dating app for humans. But unlike Tinder, there are no human profiles to swipe. Pinder is for dogs only, Kevin Botero, the 26-year-old founder of Pinder, told the New York Post.

“We’re just taking the effective format of Tinder and applying it to the pet community,” Botero said.

Dogs are social creatures and love to play with friends.

Botero said Pinder was inspired by the many pet profiles that already exist on social media, and the influencers who operate them in the guise of their companion animals.

“These pet communities are often communicating on behalf of their pets,” Botero said. “So we thought there really should be a more fun and direct way to connect pet parents.”

Could Pinder be your opportunity to set your companion animal up on a doggy date?

“I personally know relationships that have come about through people walking their pets in the park, so it’s definitely possible,” he continued. “On Pinder, you’re getting that level of pet-obsessed parent you’re looking for, which in reality is somebody just like you.”

Just like Tinder, users swipe left to move on and right when they find a profile they’d like to connect with. Once a match is made, the respective pet owners can message each other and ideally even set up a “doggy date.”

Pinder is currently being beta tested on new users, but will soon become available to anyone in the U.S.

After a soft launch in August, Pinder is now accepting beta users to try the app out and post their pet profiles. In order to encourage new users, Pinder is holding a Halloween costume contest, and hopes users will swipe right on their favorite outfits.

The winner of the contest will be posted on the Pet Costume Center Instagram page, which is already filling up with adorable entries.
