You Can Memorialize Your Pet By Having Their Ashes Turned Into A Beautiful Glass Paw

One of the most difficult human emotions is grief and it doesn’t matter if it is a human or an animal that we are close to, it can be very difficult. Often, people try to have a physical reminder to provide some comfort and that is why Cameron Davenport of Davenport Memorial Glass does what he does. He creates Memorial glass art infused with the ashes of our loved ones.

Davenport got involved in glassblowing in 2003, and in 2015 he made his first memorial piece. His friend, Johnny had passed away and he decided to infuse his ashes into a marble. “I was tired of making the same things as everyone else and wanted to offer something more meaningful,” he tells My Modern Met. “It’s still one of my favorite pieces of glass I’ve ever made.”

Even though he has worked with human ashes, Davenport has made a name for himself by making Memorial pet paws. The keepsakes include a teaspoon of ashes that the customer provides and then they are worked into the glass ‘like flour in dough’. He then turns the material into a swirling marble and eventually makes it into a paw shape. It’s a very tedious process but the results speak for themselves. Each glass paw becomes a reminder of a dog or cat and you can take them with you.

“Our goal is to physically capture a moment, to create a keepsake that brings back a memory,” says Davenport. “Nothing will compare to the time spent with your loved one, but we hope to aid in treasuring them and remembering the precious time you had together.”

Cameron Davenport provides memories that people can carry with them of their late pets. He turns their ashes into paw-shaped glass art.

He also creates other shapes using human ashes.

Each piece is a unique keepsake.

I love to write and it keeps me busy. I've been working online, full time since 1999. When you can't find me at the keyboard, you'll find me getting as much as I can out of life. I enjoy living simply, playing games, visiting the beach, and spending time with my family.
