Couple Moves Out Of State And Leaves Their Dog Tied To A Fence

As loving pet owners, we do what we can to care for our animals and make sure they have everything they need on a day-to-day basis. This includes providing them with good food, a warm place to sleep, and lots of TLC.

Unfortunately, not all animals have such loving human parents.

Animal control officers found a dog tied to a backyard fence with an open wound over the majority of his neck. It seems as if the husky had been left tied to the fence for days after his owners moved to a different state.

Curtis Swan, 27, and Aaleyah Clay, 29, told one of their neighbors that they were moving from their home in Roselle, New Jersey to Sandy Springs, Georgia, according to a report shared on Facebook.

They said they were leaving their Husky behind but would eventually come back to get the dog.

They are now being charged with animal cruelty for treating the dog that way. If convicted, they may be in prison for up to five years.

The dog was apparently left behind after the couple moved away from their home.

The dog was removed from the area and taken to the Newark branch of the Associated Humane Societies of New Jersey.

After being treated for his injuries, he was transferred to an animal shelter in South Jersey and is recovering nicely. According to a post shared by the rescue, they named the husky Carter and he currently remains in their care and is “doing well.”

They said, “He receives daily laser therapy treatments on his neck wound and is also on medications for pain and infection. He is recovering nicely and is a sweet, happy, friendly dog.”

More updates will be provided on Carter as the animal cruelty case against his former owners progresses.
