Cat Hit By Car And Left To Die

Earlier this week, someone hit a cat while driving in California. The driver stopped and got out of the car. However, instead of rushing the injured cat to the vet, the driver picked up the cat and placed him on the side of the road to die.

Thankfully, someone witnessed the incident and immediately contacted Stray Cat Alliance for help. One of their team members was nearby and arrived at the scene to rescue the cat. The rescue named the cat Oscar and posted on Facebook, “Oscar was still very much alive, and luckily someone witnessed it!”

There was a lot of blood coming from his nose and head. It was obvious that he had broken bones and was in excruciating pain. Oscar was rushed to an emergency vet to be examined and to relieve his suffering. “He was disoriented and there was so much blood.”

Oscar refused to give up fighting, so the rescue was determined to do everything in their power to save the sweet boy. “Oscar is still in shock but his vitals are good, and he is stable, which is great news. However, he does have significant head trauma, so they did a pricey CT scan, and we are waiting for the results. We are going to do everything possible to save Oscar’s life.”

After a few days of pain meds and round-the-clock care, he started to improve. The rescue posted an update stating, “He still has a long road ahead, but everyone is confident that he will make a full recovery.” The CT scan confirmed that Oscar has a lot of fractures in his face including “his palate and the orbit around his eye”.

“It’s painful for him to eat so a feeding tube was inserted which he is tolerating well. He needs continued hospitalization and special care, but he will continue to improve every day.” While the road to recovery will be long and hard, he is surrounding by loving people who will help him every step of the way.

As he continues to improve, he will eventually be moved to a foster home to finish his recovery. The rescue thanks all the people that donated and the medical team that worked so hard to save him. “The Stray Cat Alliance family and Oscar thanks you all from the bottom of our paws for all of you support and donations! This made Oscar’s urgent life-saving medical care possible!”
