This Sloth Was Orphaned And Needed Rescuing. Watch Him Take His First Steps Back Into The Wild!

For sloths, it’s extremely difficult and dangerous to get around chaotic traffic. Some end up getting stuck and trapped on the wrong side of highways, separating them from their families. When this happens, the rescue team at the Pan American Conservation Association (PACA) is there to save the day. Yiscel Yanguez and Nestor Correa run this animal rescue center in Gamboa, Panama, and specialize in rehabbing and relocating these poor orphaned sloths. They take them in and give them the care they need until they’re ready to be released back into the wild.

This video gives you a fascinating look into the life in a day of a sloth rescue center. You get to witness Boki, a young sloth whose mother was killed by a car when he was just two months old, returning to the wild for the first time. They bottle-fed him for weeks, but Boki grew restless at the center and even tried to escape a few times. They knew that it was time to finally let him go back into the wild. After spending so much time with Boki, this was a very bittersweet moment for them. Correa cried happy tears and said it was a very sentimental moment for them. It’s not every day that you get to watch and learn about sloths, so this video is awesome to see!
