Rescue Pays All Vet Bills For The Life Of Each Senior Dog To Help Them Find Loving Homes
Sadly, many senior dogs are surrendered to shelters because their owners can no longer afford to keep up with the vet expenses that come with old age. Many of those senior dogs are overlooked at the shelters for that same reason.
Old Dog Haven, a rescue group in Seattle, has come up with a way to help this problem. They pay 100 percent of the veterinary bills for the life of each adopted dog!
The rescue, run by Judith and Lee Piper, has been rescuing elderly dogs from shelters and re-homing them through their group for the past twelve years. More than 4,800 old and sick dogs have had the opportunity to be adopted all thanks to this kind-hearted couple.
Old Dog Haven refers to their “adoptions” as “permanent foster homes” so that the vet expenses remain with their rescue instead of going to the new family.
Fifteen of the dogs who need the most assistance get to live with the couple on their five-acre farm outside of Seattle in Arlington, Washington.
Old Dog Haven has about 250 dogs over the age of 8 living in 140 foster homes across Washington. Although it’s unknown how many years each of them have left to live, it’s guaranteed that their final time here will be filled with love.
