Kitten Without A Nose Was Discarded As Trash, Then Met People Who Refused To Give Up On HimAshley Maisano
In July, a six-month-old kitten was found dumped near a dumpster in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Not only was the tiny kitten all alone, but he was also severely malnourished, filthy, and needed medical attention as soon as possible.
Thankfully he was found by a Good Samaritan who brought him to the MSPCA-Angell to get help. The kitten, who they named Nigel, had an infection on his face, which caused his nose to be discolored. They started him on antibiotics and pain medication right away.
But Nigel’s injury was way worse than they thought, and vets had to find out the hard way. One day, part of Nigel’s nose fell off. It’s unknown exactly what caused it, but the shelter suspects that he suffered trauma of some sort.
One of the surgeons at their medical center believes that maybe Nigel had been bitten in the face which eventually led to infection and the nose becoming devitalized.
Even though Nigel lost part of his face, the vets and shelter staff refused to give up on him. He might look different on the outside, but he is still just like any other kitten and he deserves a second chance.
Nigel lived with a foster and received great care by the MSPCA while he awaited facial surgery. The surgery was a success and he was recovering very well. But while healing, his lower canine teeth were growing into his new upper lip, so they had to have the teeth removed. That was also a success!
And best of all? Nigel found a forever home! He now lives with his new mom, who is a certified vet tech, as well as his two new kitty siblings.
Dubbed “No Nose Nigel,” he even has an Instagram now where you can follow all of his adventures in his new home. Click here to follow Nigel.
