Abused Puppy Who Was Stabbed In The Face Makes A Full Recovery And Finds A Loving Forever Home
This puppy named Mika had a terribly rough start to life. When she was just three months old, a ten-year-old child allegedly stabbed her in the eye several times with a pocket knife and left her to die.
Mika then ran from their house to a neighbor’s house down the road. When her former owners came to get her, the neighbors refused to give her back and then called the cops for help.
She was brought to RIVER for emergency surgery and her eye was removed and stitched shut. Now she was without an eye, and also without a family.
She was then taken in by Humane Educational Society in Tennessee, where 400 other dogs resided. Now at 11 months old, Mika has made a full recovery and is doing so much better! Her story was posted on social media, and it touched the hearts of people all over the country.
That’s when a San Francisco woman, Marina Krueger, heard about Mika and knew she wanted to help this sweet pup. She agreed to adopt her without even meeting her; she just wanted to get her out of that packed shelter as soon as possible.
Krueger waited at the San Francisco International Airport this past week to meet her new puppy off the plane from Chattanooga, Tennessee. As soon as Krueger saw Mika and the shelter volunteer, Alexia Johannes, come out of the gate, she started crying and got really choked up. She was overwhelmed at the sight of her new furry family member.
Dozens of people chipped in on a GoFundMe page to help buy a plane ticket and make Mika’s trip to her new forever home possible.
Mika has been through so much in such a short period of time, but it’s amazing to see how far she has come. Her resiliency is truly inspiring, and she still has such a happy demeanor. Mika is loving her new life in San Francisco and is enjoying her new big backyard and loving family!
