This Chimp Was Locked Up In A Dark Cell For Years. But, Seeing Her New Life Will Melt Your Heart…

Iris, a 32-year-old Chimpanzee, was being held alone in a dark cell at Chestatee Wildlife Preserve & Zoo in Georgia. She was deemed depressed and often smeared her own feces on the cell walls and spent most of her time alone in the dark under a dirty blanket. Her life was anything but happy, until she was freed and brought to a MUCH better place!

In March 2015, Iris was rescued and brought to the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida, a lush green island with palm trees, much different than her prior horrible living conditions.

Best of all, Iris got to be with a whole family of Chimps! She was introduced to Abdul the Chimp within days of arriving there, and they got along perfectly; they even gave each other hugs and kisses! Thank God Iris will finally get to live a normal, happy life that she deserves!
