How does baking soda work on stains and smells?FamilyPet
Baking soda works is an economical and effective way to clean pet stains and neutralize odors and smells. You can use baking soda for stains on carpets or floors to clean up messes made by your pets. Instead of using more expensive cleaners, you can use baking soda, or a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar, to clean tough stains out of carpets and clothing. The baking soda can also help to remove unpleasant odors.
To use baking soda to clean stains on the carpet, simply sprinkle baking soda onto the stained area. If the stain is really set in or darker in color, use more baking soda and sprinkle the area with hot water as well. Allow the baking soda to soak the area thoroughly. You can also scrub the baking soda into the stain with a stiff-bristled brush. After the baking soda has sat on the stain for about 15 minutes, vacuum the baking soda up and rinse the area with lukewarm water.
You can use a small amount of baking soda on your dog to remove odors. This is especially helpful if your dog is wet from playing in water or from walking in the rain. Sprinkle your dog with baking soda, and then brush their coat thoroughly to enable the powder to sink in and observe odors.
