Animal Shelter In Hawaii Allows Tourists To Adopt Dogs For The Day

What is one thing you miss when you go on vacation? Like many people, you probably miss your dog but if you happen to be vacationing on the Hawaiian Islands, it may not be as big of an issue. According to Elite Daily, the Kauai Humane Society has things set up so that volunteers can adopt a dog for a day.

In order to get started, you can go to the shelter and check out one of the canines. The dogs will be put in a vest reading ‘Adopt Me’ and they will be ready to follow along with you on your many adventures. The island has plenty of pet-friendly activities so you can make the most of your day.

The Kauai Humane Society set up the program to help get shelter dogs some exercise and to teach them how to socialize with new humans. It is also emphasized that if field trip leaders want to turn the temporary friend into a permanent family member, there is no problem with it. Approximately 4 dogs are adopted every month by visitors and the Humane Society even helps with travel arrangements to relocate the pets to their new homes.

If you want to make the most out of your Hawaiian vacation, just stop by the shelter and pick up your buddy Monday through Saturday
