Family Checks Out Their Chocolate Lab’s Newborn Puppies, Then Notices That One Is Green

The birth of a new life is one of the most amazing things in this world. It’s so incredible what living things are capable of! And newborn puppies have to be one of the cutest sights.

One family was blessed with a litter of newborn puppies after their chocolate labrador gave birth. But when they went to check out the new additions, they were shocked to see that one of the puppies fur was green! The green puppy, who owners named Fifi after the famous green ogre Princess Fiona from Shrek, is the only girl of the litter.

According to experts, this rare occurrence happens when light-colored puppies come in contact with a substance called biliverdin, which is a green bile pigment found in the placenta. It’s most visible on lighter breeders such as Labradors, and is completely harmless. The green color will eventually fade, but in the meantime, it’s extremely unique and crazy to look at!
