‘Good Boy Dog Beer’ Is A Non-Alcoholic Craft Beverage Your Dog Can DrinkAnastasia Arellano
For those of us that prefer to drink at home rather than go out to a noisy bar or club, there is some good news. Drinking at home has just gotten a whole lot less sad as one brewing company is bridging the gap in the market for pet owners by bringing us beer made specifically for canine consumption.
Good Boy Dog Beer is an American-based brewing company that was established in East Texas with the sole purpose of making and selling beer specifically aimed at dogs. They use “all the same equipment as a brewery,” as they aim to establish themselves well within the niche of a canine brewery.

Megan and Steve Long are dog-lovers and the inventors of Good Boy Dog Beer, which was pushed by their “love for our own puppies and all the animals out there.” Megan wrote on the company’s website that their “oldest Rottweiler, Rocky, is very sensitive to foods and allergies so we started creating him his own treats and managing his diet better. It helped his allergy outbreaks significantly and we just seemed to progress from there eventually starting our own line of beer for dogs.”

The idea of a home-brewed beer for dogs will obviously have some people raising concerns, but the very detailed FAQs page assures owners that not only is the final product safe for humans to drink, although “you may find it bland”, but it’s non-alcoholic and hop-less since “Alcohol and hops in beer is toxic for dogs.” Good Boy Dog Beer has also recommended serving “it in a dog bowl as a treat or over their food,” however they stress for owners to remember that it’s “not a meal replacement”.

To add some variety, the Good Boy Dog beers are made in four distinct flavors: “IPA Lot In The Yard,” “Mailman Malt Licker,” “Session Squirrel,” and “Crotch Sniffin’ Ale.” They’re all differently flavored with pork, chicken, vegetables, and peanuts. While some might question the necessity of having been made specifically for dogs, I’m sure the introverts who enjoy a good brew are celebrating everywhere.
