Remember the sea otter pup who was rescued and resides at Shedd Aquarium? Well sea otters aren’t the only sea animals that Shedd rescues; Within the past two weeks they, along with The Channel Island Marine and Wildlife Institute, have rescued and cared for more than 40 sea lions. Now, four of them got to be released back into the sea!
With warmer ocean temperatures and El Nino, there has been an increase in stranded sea lions. These four sea lion pups were found stranded and emaciated. They were taken in to be rehabilitated and fed. Now that they are healthy enough to survive on their own, they have been set free into the waters!
