Elephants Rescued From Tourism Industry Experience Their New Lives For The First Time
Madee, a 60-year-old female elephant, has spent the majority of her life working in the logging industry near the Thai-Malaysian border, and then moved to Phuket in 2009 to give jungle trek tours to tourists. Kannika, a 32-year-old female elephant, has spent more than 20 years in Phuket working in the tourism industry as well.
Thankfully, both elephants were rescued and now reside at the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. They never have to worry about working for humans ever again. Now all they have to do is relax and enjoy the rest of their lives at a peaceful place. They enjoy swimming together in the river, as it’s the first time they got to relax in water in years.
