Loyal Dog Waited An Entire Month At The Railroad Tracks Where His Owner Died

Dogs are just too good for us – and here is yet another example. A loyal dog hung around a train station for an entire month – waiting for his owner, who tragically passed away there, to return.

The dog is named Toto, and he was with his owner, Facundo Brusco, in El Jaguel – located in the eastern Argentinian province of Buenos Aires – when he died on the 14th of August.

Karina, Facundo’s mother, said that Toto used to follow him on his commute to work. It didn’t take long for the 27-year-old to adopt the pup, spending the majority of his time with his beloved dog.

Facundo had been seeing a mental health professional following a battle with depression that had been going on for years. In a very tragic turn of events, the young man was reported to have committed suicide at the train station.

In the weeks following Facundo’s death, Toto was ever the loyal companion, regularly being spotted by the railway track where the incident occurred. Local residents were moved by the tragic scene, and many of them rallied around Toto by bringing him food. Some even created a little makeshift shelter for him, so the lonely dog would have a place to keep dry on rainy days.

Roughly a month after Facundo’s death, the Patitas Glew animal association learned about Toto and his situation and set out to help him.

Patitas Glew is a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to helping stray dogs in the city of Glew. They feed them, give them medical attention, as well as spay/neuter them. The group focuses on rescue, recovery, and responsible adoption – all while also shedding light on the issues of abandonment and animal abuse.

One of the rescue’s members, Sol, said Toto was “very suspicious and a little scared” of the group members who arrived, but eventually he went with them to a shelter.

In the hopes of finding him a new home, Patitas Glew hoped to find him a new home, so they shared Toto’s picture on social media. That is where Facundo’s mother saw it.

Karina responded to the posted, deciding to adopt Facundo’s beloved Toto so that he’d remain within the family.

She told local media Toto was initially scared at first but soon settled in and “now [he] feels at home.” Patitas Glew provides support and advice to everyone who adopts their dogs, so there’s no doubt that Toto will be well cared for and very much loved in his new home.
