World’s First Dog Tap House Features Dogs For Adoption

Are beer, good food, and sports a few of your favorite pastimes? Now you can enjoy them with your best friend, Fido at the first ever dog tap house, Fido’s.

The fitting name says it all. Fido is welcome to join you for a cold glass of beer and doggone good grub. On their website they call this a new business segment. “A craft beer tap room with adoptable rescue dogs.” The moment you walk into the Portland, Oregon restaurant, you will see the love for dogs everywhere. The walls are covered in dog artwork. Pretzels for humans that are in the shape of a dog bone and much more.

If you do not have a four-legged best friend to bring with you, no worries. You can adopt one of the dogs featured in the restaurant. Foster dogs have a home at Fido’s until they find their forever home. Scott Porter, owner, is just as passionate about helping rescue dogs find forever homes, as he is about beer and food.

The tap house has been open for 2 months and it has adopted out 18 dogs! They focus on helping dogs in overpopulated shelters. They posted on Facebook, “I tear up for every dog that receives a loving home.” The unique tap house has taken dog loving to another level. If you are not in a place to adopt, you can spend 30 minutes in the Fido Room with a dog for therapy for $4. The sign-up is on their website.

To ensure everyone’s safety Fido’s list their paw-licies for interacting with a foster dog. They have thought of everything to make sure the experience is enjoyable for the dog and human. If you find a dog you would like to adopt, you must adhere to the adoption procedures provided by Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals.

Dog charities are welcome to promote their missions for FREE at Fido’s. Events held at the restaurant are focused on dogs. Part of the proceeds from the Fido Room are donated to local charities, to help homeless dogs find a forever home. People who adopt a foster dog from Fido’s are asked to pose in front of Fido’s artwork dog. The staff hopes to see the adopted dogs return for dinner with their new families.

The restaurant received rave reviews for their love of dogs and beer selection. It sounds like a slice of heaven. This is hopefully the first of many. Innovative ideas like this will save the lives of many shelter dogs. Cheers to a great place!
