Dog Sitter Slammed Puppy To The Ground In Disturbing Footage Captured On Security CameraAndrea Powell
As dog parents, we try our best to make sure that our fur children are well cared for when we are not home. Puppies need a lot of potty breaks and playtime to grow into well-behaved dogs.
A California couple hired a dog sitter to look after their 10-month-old Labrador puppy, Lucy, while they were at work, but they never thought she would be in danger.
Amanda Roy and her husband hired a dog sitter from the pet sitting app Rover. All seemed well until the couple received an alert on their phones from their home security camera.
A motion alert was detected by the security camera which sent an alert to the couple’s phones. The dog sitter was captured on camera walking into the kitchen holding Lucy before forcefully slamming her to the ground. The innocent puppy was stunned and struggles to get to her feet as the woman watched.
Amanda’s husband immediately yelled at the sitter through the security camera to leave his house. She apologized and then left the home.
Thankfully, Lucy did not sustain any physical injures. Animal Control is investigating the incident. Amanda told ABC7, “It’s heartbreaking because the reason we use a pet sitter is because we love our pet and we don’t want to leave her unattended for very long because she is a baby.”
She went on to say, “So we trusted someone to come into our home and look after a pet that we consider a family member.”
Rover issued a statement saying, “The activity depicted in this video is shocking and appalling. We have permanently deactivated this sitter from our platform and will continue to investigate. Any incident of this nature is extremely rare on our platform, and we take it very seriously.”
“Additionally, we have offered to pay for any veterinary expenses that may have been incurred as a result of this incident. We have been assisting local law enforcement with their investigation and will continue to offer support.”
