People Can’t Figure Out If This Dog Is Going Up Or Down The Stairs

Optical illusions, they’re those wonderful tricks that will often start great debates online. And the latest one to cause a stir across social media involves a rather cute doggie. The video in question has people debating whether or not the dog is moving forwards or backward.

Groot, the now-famous pooch, is a one-year-old American Bulldog owned by Gina Creuz. The pair resides in Hazlet, New Jersey where Creuz shared Groot’s interesting approach to navigating the stairs.

The 53-year-old Creuz posted the short footage of Groot and soon afterwards, the internet descended into deliberation as to whether or not Groot was going down the stairs or up. It was quite intense.

In the end, it turned out that Groot’s motions were actually of him hopping down the steps.

His owner confirmed this by stating that she adores how her canine has an odd little hop when it comes to going down a flight of stairs.

Naturally, there were plenty of people across Twitter who were not convinced by her statement. One person asked if they were the only ones who thought the dog was going upstairs. Another person simply claimed, “Upstairs or downstairs?!?!” While there were several others who chimed in to say the legitimately thought the dog was going upstairs. Someone else even admitted they had to watch the footage several times before finally seeing the dog going downstairs for themselves.
