Dog Plays Dead Whenever Owner Tries To Make Him Leave The Park

Some dogs will do anything to get their way. Vincent, a golden retriever living in Queensland, Australia, is clearly one of those pups.

Every time Vincent’s owner tries to leave the park, for example, the melodramatic dog lies down and plays dead. But Vincent doesn’t just quietly curl up into an unobtrusive ball. The dog lies down on his back, belly up with all four paws in the air, where he’ll stay until he gets extra playtime, or is bribed back to life or treats. Whichever comes first.

Social media got a taste for Vincent’s dramatics when the dog and his owner met a woman named Nicola Booth at the park. “Next time you get irritated by your dog for being too slow on their walk, spare a thought for this dog owner I met this morning,” Booth later wrote of their encounter on Facebook, which was captured in the hilarious video below.

In the video, you can see Vincent playing dead in the middle of a busy pedestrian area while his owner looks on. The man tries to gently shake Vincent awake, but the pup suddenly appears lifeless. The dog’s theatrics are so convincing that passerby look over over with worry until they realize he’s just acting. Finally, Vincent’s owner pretends to leave without him. When the man’s a safe distance away, the dog hops back onto his feet like nothing has happened.

Unfortunately (for Vincent’s owner, at least) the disobedient dog will drop “dead” several more times before they manage to leave, drawing a large crowd of onlookers. The only person who isn’t charmed by the dog’s drama, of course, is Vincent’s owner, who is clearly losing his patience after the dog drops dead for the third or fourth time. “Absolutely not!” the man cries out at one point in exasperation, before finally encouraging his dog to come back to life by calling to him from a nearby snack stand.
