Japan’s Osaka Airport Has A Toilet Area For Dogs With A Self-Flushing ‘Pee Pole’
It is not out of the ordinary to see dogs at the airport these days. In fact, the reasons why they may be showing up at the airport seems to be increasing. Although there are some airports that are getting more pet-friendly, not all of those facilities fall into the same category. According to CNN, however, Osaka International Airport in Japan is dealing with one of the bigger problems associated with dogs at airports: a place to pee.

On February 13, 2020, the Osaka International Airport let the world see its new rest area for dogs. Everything that a dog would need is there to prepare for a long trip, including a water fountain, a shower, and a ‘pee pole’ that cleans itself. In other words, dogs can relieve themselves on the pole and then it flushes away the waste automatically.
You will find the bathroom area outside of the pickup and drop off area. It makes it convenient for travelers to stop before they get on a plane or after they get off. A bench and roof are also included for extra comfort.

This particular rest area is for dogs that are going with humans as a regular pet. Inside the airport, you will find other spots where animals can relieve themselves.
As of February 13, 2020, the rest area for dogs is open from 5:30 AM until 10:00 PM. It seems as if the Osaka International Airport may just win an award for pet-friendliness.
