Two years ago, George the dog lost his best friend of 12 years, a Labrador named Blackie. Ever since then, he has been living with constant heartache and has felt extremely lonely and lost without Blackie by his side. But then something strange happened that changed everything.

One day, a duck showed up on the porch of their home in Tennessee. He walked right over to George, and acted as if he knew George needed a friend. From that point on, the two bonded and became great friends!

“We have no idea where this duck came from but he sure does love George and since the duck has arrived George has not cried one time,” owner Jacquie Litton wrote on Facebook. “It is strange for a duck to just appear at our house and be attached to your dog and even more strangely the anniversary week of Blackie’s passing.”

George and his new friendly duck friend, who was named Donald, were inseparable. Litton even allowed Donald to come inside to sleep. He would hang out in George’s kennel with him, and George even let Donald sleep on his dog bed.

Ever since Donald arrived, George has been acting much happier and much more like himself. He doesn’t always want to lounge around the house anymore, he doesn’t whine anymore, and he doesn’t look so sad anymore. This was exactly what George needed. Donald filled his lonely void!
