BREAKING NEWS: Major Pet Food Brand Recalls Food Due To SalmonellaAndrea Powell
Salmonella bacteria has been the culprit of multiple recalls. This is the fourth company to recall dog food or treats in the last few days. Share this with all your friends and family.
Darwin Natural Pet Products of Tukwila, Washington, issued a recall on select lots of its Darwin’s ZooLogics dog food due to possible contamination with salmonella bacteria.
One incident was reported to Darwin, but a statement released by Gary Tashjian, company founder, states, “We believe most of this product has already been consumed, for the most part without incident, as most dogs’ and cats’ digestive systems are able to process pathogens such as salmonella without harm.”
What Is Recalled?
-ZooLogics Chicken and Vegetable Meals for Dogs
-ZooLogics Duck and Vegetable Meals for Dogs
Symptoms Of Salmonella In Pets
– diarrhea or bloody diarrhea
– decreased appetite
– abdominal pain
Pets that are infected can be carriers and pass it on to other animals and humans. If you have fed any of the recalled products and your pet is showing any of the above symptoms, call your vet immediately.
This is concerning to pet parents who feed Darwin products. One Darwin customer commented on Dog Food Advisor, “Why is it we are only now being notified when the contamination happened back in November” This is the second incident in as many months where Darwin’s reports a “potential” contamination months after the actual occurrence so there is no chance to return the contaminated batches.”
Darwin sent a letter to their customers claiming they contacted everyone who purchased the possibly contaminated food. The letter also described the background of raw pet food safety and what steps Darwin takes for pathogen control of the food before they sell it to consumers.
