When This Rescue Cow Gave Birth To Her Baby, She Hid Her. The Reason Why Is Heartbreaking!
Clarabelle was rescued from a dairy farm in late November by Edgar’s Mission, an Australian farm sanctuary. Her milk production was too low to bother keeping her alive, so she was hours away from being slaughtered.
When she arrived at Edgar’s Mission, they discovered she was pregnant. A week before she was due, she began acting different. She was usually willing to eat, but she had been keeping her distance and was acting very wary and cautious.
After searching the area, they realized that she had secretly given birth and hidden the baby in a nearby patch of tall grass. At dairy farms, once babies are born, they are taken away from their mothers so that they don’t drink their milk, which would soon be harvested for human consumption.
Clarabelle had previous babies taken away from her because of this, so they believe that she was terrified of it happening again. That is why this time, when her baby was born, she hid it.
But little does she know that now she is somewhere safe and will get to spend the rest of her life with her baby, Valentine. Cows are known for their deep maternal instincts, and Clarabelle is a wonderful mother!
