Police Sergeant Comforts A Dog On The Side Of The Road After Being Hit By A Car

You never know what you might run into during the day when you are a police officer. An officer from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department recently was called to the scene where a dog was struck by an automobile. As he was waiting for help, he covered the injured animal with his coat.

The image of Sgt. Chris Howlett gained traction when it was posted on the Facebook page of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department. The dog had sustained minor injuries and is expected to be fine. As they were waiting in the snow for help to arrive, he covered the dog with his jacket. It wasn’t long afterward that the dog met up with his owners.

In the post, the department wrote, “During times that there seems to be negative press towards law enforcement this shows a bit of compassion on the part of law enforcement and specifically our deputies.”

I love to write and it keeps me busy. I've been working online, full time since 1999. When you can't find me at the keyboard, you'll find me getting as much as I can out of life. I enjoy living simply, playing games, visiting the beach, and spending time with my family.
