Millionaire Goes Broke Turning A Dog Slaughterhouse Into A Safe Haven For Animals
Dogs are fantastic companions who bring so much joy and love to our lives for the time that they are with us. As reported by Metro when a Chinese millionaire Wang Yan lost his pet dog, he was left heartbroken and went looking for his dog, only to stumble upon a slaughterhouse.
While Yan was never able to find his dog, he was still greatly saddened by what he found at the slaughterhouse. In fact, Yan was shocked and horrified by the cruel treatment of more than a hundred animals there.

It was then that he realized he had to do something for these animals, and help to ease their suffering. It is reported that he paid more than $400,000 in order to transform the slaughterhouse into a sanctuary for the animals of Changchun city, located in China’s northeast province of Jinlin.
When asked if others were helping him on the endeavor, Wang answered, “I don’t accept monetary donations, I only hope that kind-hearted people will be able to donate a few supplies to help.”
Even though Wang had been doing everything in his power to provide for the dogs, he has incurred serious debts as a result.

“I don’t accept monetary donations,” he said to reporters. “I only hope that kind-hearted people will be able to donate a few supplies to help.”
He was able to ensure that all the dogs – all 2,000 of them – would be going to forever homes. After a very rapid adoption rate, there are now only 200 dogs left waiting for a forever home.

Wang’s protection of that many dogs is a great bit of news in the face of the fact that China is known for frequently butchering dogs for their meat. And the sad reality is that many strays are often prey to such brutality. In fact, almost 10,000 dogs are slaughtered every year in the largely rural and poor Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during what is infamously known around the world as the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.
There has been plenty of international uproar criticizing the Chinese government for allowing this brutality to exist.
