Many dogs in a shelter are not going to show their true colors. Being cooped up in a cage all day, every day can be very depressing for shelter dogs. They can also be scared and extremely stressed. Under these circumstances, it is hard for the dogs to express their personalities and break out of their shells.

So, when you visit a dog at a shelter, you may not initially see what the dog is actually like. That’s why it’s important to spend time with the dog outside of its cage, and maybe even bring them home for a visit to see how they fit into your family.

Tammy, fondly referred to as “The Chihuahua Whisperer,” received a photo of this little Chihuahua who wouldn’t stop growling, but she knew that there was something special about her. Tammy made the trip to Philadelphia where this little girl was located, and within an hour, she turned this angry, scared Chihuahua into a happy and affectionate pup! She fostered her named her Sunshine because of how happy she was! Fortunately, Sunshine was adopted not long after!

It’s amazing how far a little bit of love goes!
